Safety and use

Please read this page and the user manual that comes with your mask before your first session. If the manual and this page ever differ, follow the manual.

Your mask has 328 LEDs and a handheld controller that connects to it by a cord. It offers four lights: green 525 nm, amber 590 nm, red 630 nm, and red 630 nm with near-infrared 850 nm. The controller has a 5, 10 or 15 minute timer and switches the mask off when the time is up.

Protect your eyes

  • Keep your eyes closed for the whole session.
  • Never look directly into the LEDs, whether the mask is on your face or in your hands.
  • Put the mask on before you switch on a light, and take it off only after the light has stopped.

Who should not use the mask

  • The mask is not for children. Keep the mask, the controller and the cord out of their reach.
  • Do not use the mask if you have photosensitive epilepsy, or if you get migraines that are set off by light.
  • Do not use the mask if it, the controller or the cord looks damaged, or behaves in a way you do not expect. Stop and email us instead.

Check with your doctor first

Talk to your doctor before using the mask if any of these apply to you:

  • You take any medication, or use any prescription skincare, that makes your skin more sensitive to light.
  • You are pregnant or nursing.
  • You have broken skin, an open wound or irritation on the area the mask covers.
  • You have had a cosmetic procedure, a peel, laser work or facial surgery recently.
  • You have a light-sensitive skin condition or an eye condition.

During every session

  • Use the mask on a cleansed face that you have patted completely dry.
  • Sit or lie down and stay still. Never wear the mask while you walk around, cook, drive or do anything that needs your eyes.
  • Choose one light and set the timer to 5, 10 or 15 minutes. Let the timer end the session, and do not start a second session straight after the first.
  • Stop at once and take the mask off if you feel heat, stinging or any other discomfort. If redness or discomfort does not settle, contact your doctor.
  • Keep the cord slack and out of the way. Never loop it around yourself, and do not pull on it to move the controller.
  • Use only the cable supplied with your mask. Do not use any other cable with it.
  • Keep the mask, the controller and the cord away from water. They are not waterproof, so do not use them in or near the bath, the shower or steam.
  • Follow the session times and how often to use the mask as set out in your user manual.

Cleaning and storage

  • Make sure the mask is switched off, and unplugged from any power source, before you clean it.
  • Wipe the inside and outside of the mask with a soft, dry cloth, or one that is slightly damp with water.
  • Do not use alcohol, cleaning sprays or harsh cleaners on the LED surface, and never soak or rinse the mask.
  • Let the mask dry completely before you use it or put it away.
  • Store the mask flat in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight, with nothing heavy resting on it.
  • Coil the cord loosely rather than wrapping it around the controller.
  • Do not open, repair or modify the mask, the controller or the cord.
  • At the end of its life, take the mask to your local electrical waste collection rather than the regular trash.

If something goes wrong

If anything unexpected happens during or after a session, stop using the mask and write to us at care@luxeraskin.co. Tell us your order number, what happened and when, and attach a photo if it helps. We read every message and we record every report. If anything feels urgent, contact a doctor first and write to us afterwards.
